Overview

FWI is building a team to provide comprehensive digital communications, design, and web support services to the National Science Foundation's Office of Legislative and Public Affairs (OLPA). As the Digital Project Manager, you will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of digital initiatives — including graphic design, scientific illustration, animation, website design and development, digital asset management, multimedia research, and photography — ensuring NSF's complex scientific and policy information is translated into clear, visually compelling, accessible, and engaging content across digital, print, and multimedia platforms.

Work Schedule and Location:

Hybrid: This full-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, at NSF headquarters in Alexandria, VA.  Some telework may be allowed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage integrated digital communications, design, and web support services
  • Oversee graphic design, scientific illustration, animation, website design/development, digital asset management, multimedia research, photography, and rights clearance deliverables
  • Ensure all work adheres to NSF branding standards, federal plain-language guidelines, and Section 508/WCAG accessibility requirements
  • Coordinate surge support for specialized initiatives such as immersive virtual reality experiences and interactive touchscreen applications
  • Provide technical and artistic guidance to staff and collaborate with researchers and stakeholders
  • Manage structured ticketing system for web operations customer support
  • Submit biweekly status reports and ad hoc project reports per deliverables schedule

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Demonstrated experience managing digital products including websites, applications, and support tools
  • Knowledge of graphic design, scientific illustration, animation, website design/development, digital asset management, multimedia research, photography, and rights clearance workflows
  • Working knowledge of Drupal, ServiceNow, and SharePoint content management environments
  • Familiarity with Acquia DAM and Brightcove for digital asset management
  • Knowledge of Section 508/WCAG accessibility requirements
  • Knowledge of federal plain-language guidelines
  • Ability to apply NSF branding standards across digital, print, and multimedia platforms
  • Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System
  • Experience managing copyright and licensing for image and video usage rights
  • Experience coordinating with researchers and subject-matter experts to ensure scientific accuracy
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
