Overview

FWI is building a team to provide technical expertise supporting the design and implementation of a modern, integrated data, application, and AI/ML ecosystem for Naval Special Warfare Command (NSWC). As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers in the design, development, and deployment of high-impact solutions, combining technical leadership with project management to ensure the rapid delivery of high-quality, scalable systems.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

 

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm at the Naval Amphibious Base (NAB) in Coronado, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to define and communicate the team's roadmap and vision, aligning engineering efforts with overall organizational goals
  • Provide technical guidance and hands-on action when necessary
  • Run the day-to-day execution of the engineering roadmap, overseeing projects from inception to completion
  • Contribute to the design and evolution of technical architectures, capacity plans, and tooling strategies, prioritizing technical challenges and resource allocation
  • Drive technical architecture discussions
  • Maintain appropriate documentation
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging technologies in developer infrastructure
  • Assist Government personnel in the development of technical documents, including architecture diagrams, design specifications, and system documentation
  • Travel as mission requires, including potential deployment to remote sites and hazardous duty areas

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science
  • 10+ years writing code
  • 10+ years of industry experience in an engineering management role in a Scrum-based environment
  • Motivated by optimizing engineering teams
  • Experience with systems, networking, and troubleshooting
  • Proficiency in reviewing code
  • Experience with full developer tools to include CI/CD technologies, automation and pipelines, and automated testing
  • Outstanding communication skills, including the ability to visually present complex data and effectively communicate technical details to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and deployment (build, validate, release, operate)
  • Proficient technical writing skills
  • Active DoD SECRET security clearance
