Creative Director (Part Time)

Overview

FWI is building a team to support Puerto Rico Department of Housing (PRDOH) Communication Services program for the Community Development Block Grant for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) and Community Development Block Grant for Mitigation (CDBG-MIT). The Creative Director will manage the creative process from concept to completion, leading and directing the creative team in the production of all marketing materials while ensuring visual communication and brand standards are met.

Work Schedule and Location:


Hybrid: This part-time hybrid position will work Monday through Friday, 25 hours per week, with some onsite work in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative process from concept to completion, translating marketing objectives into clear creative strategies and executable designs
  • Manage and oversee the productivity and output of designers, art directors, copywriters, photographers, videographers, web developers, and other creative staff
  • Personally design and execute original pieces including illustrations, infographics, logos, covers, reports, advertisements, and social media layouts
  • Generate ideas and concepts in collaboration with copywriters and strategists; produce sketches, drafts, storyboards, roughs, and visualizations
  • Oversee all design projects from conception to delivery, ensuring high-quality visual communications and brand consistency across all platforms
  • Review and provide feedback on graphic design team work to ensure quality standards; refine work as needed
  • Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met across all client proposals, campaigns, and deliverables
  • Work closely with account management, strategy, and other teams to understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning, and target audiences
  • Manage and delegate creative responsibilities across the team while maintaining personal involvement in key design executions
  • Oversee profitability, deliverables, timelines, and budgets of all creative projects
  • Apply graphic design techniques to improve images, fonts, layouts, and generate innovative ideas that portray client concepts
  • Create and/or design materials by hand or using technology and software programs for web pages, brochures, logos, covers, reports, advertisements, blog posts, and social media
  • Continuously improve user-friendliness across all digital platforms while maintaining brand consistency
  • Meet with clients to gain understanding of their needs and create designs that reflect client vision and specifications
  • Enhance readability of text and images, produce drafts for client review, and make revisions based on feedback
  • Review final products to ensure they are error-free and meet client specifications before submission
  • Manage the coordination of creative team activities to ensure deadlines and brand requirements are met
  • Present completed creative ideas and design work to clients, upper management, and team members with clear rationale
  • Stay up to date with industry developments, design trends, and creative tools to ensure best practices are implemented across all projects

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Design, Visual Arts, Art, Photography, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in creative direction and design execution
  • Strong understanding of industry trends, creative tools, and marketing objectives
  • Experience with logo design, typography, color theory, web layout design, print production, image selection, and packaging design
  • Proficiency in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and image editing tools
  • Hands-on experience managing and performing a range of creative positions including graphic designers, copywriters, photographers, videographers, and web developers
  • Ability to lead from concept to execution, translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies, and personally produce original design work
  • Highly skilled at leading detail-oriented creative teams while maintaining hands-on design involvement
  • Experience creating illustrations, infographics, web pages, brochures, logos, reports, advertisements, blog posts, and social media layouts
  • Proficiency in the use of virtual design tools, technology, and software to create art
  • Portfolio demonstrating both strategic creative leadership and exceptional design execution
  • Ability to inspire creativity and work well with different personality types
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills in both Spanish and English (bilingual required)
