Overview

FWI is building a team to provide comprehensive tour and visitor center management services for the Department of the Treasury, Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Western Currency Facility in Fort Worth, Texas, supporting critical public education operations that showcase U.S. currency manufacturing. As a Certified ASL Interpreter, you will play a vital role in ensuring accessible, inclusive tour experiences for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors, providing professional sign language interpretation during advance-scheduled guided tours of the currency production facility. This on-call position supports the BEP's commitment to welcoming all members of the public and delivering world-class educational experiences that bring the story of U.S. currency production to life for diverse audiences.

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: On-Site / On-Call: This part-time, on-call position requires availability within 2 business days of Government request for advance-scheduled guided tours at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Western Currency Facility, 9000 Blue Mound Road, Fort Worth, TX 76131. Tour schedules vary based on visitor requests for ASL interpretation services. Tours typically occur during standard facility operating hours (business days). Actual hours worked will vary based on tour frequency and duration.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective and accurate ASL interpretation for guided tours of the Western Currency Facility
  • Interpret both receptively and expressively during tour operations
  • Utilize specialized vocabulary related to currency production, Bureau operations, and facility security
  • Conduct advance-scheduled sign language tours for deaf and hard-of-hearing visitors
  • Maintain professional demeanor consistent with federal facility standards
  • Coordinate with Tour & Visitor Center management for scheduling
  • Ensure compliance with BEP visitor services protocols

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Certified ASL interpreter (RID certification or state-level certification required)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret effectively and accurately, both receptively and expressively
  • Proficiency in specialized vocabulary (technical, government, security-related terminology)
  • Ability to learn and interpret currency production and Bureau-specific terminology

Availability

  • Available within 2 business days of Government request
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate advance-scheduled tour times
  • Ability to work during standard facility operating hours (tours typically during business hours)
