Oracle Database Administrator

Overview

FWI is building a team to manage day-to-day operations and maintenance of The Office of Foreign Missions Information System (TOMIS), including migrating from Oracle to Microsoft SQL Server. As a Database Administrator you will provide Oracle database administration, lead the database migration to SQL Server, and optimize database performance for OFM's mission critical systems.

Work Schedule and Location:

 

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead database migration from Oracle 19c to Microsoft SQL Server
  • Manage one (1) "Mission Critical" database currently hosted in Oracle 19c
  • Create and update Data Dictionary for TOMIS database within two months of contract award
  • Document all stored procedures, Scheduled Tasks, and database scripts
  • Provide database optimization recommendations and implement improvements
  • Assist with data administration activities and OFM/OPS/IT repository maintenance
  • Coordinate with Database Administrator to develop procedures for uploading/downloading information
  • Investigate and resolve developer problems or complaints
  • Tune database systems and maintain documentation on data activity

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree or related experience
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification or training preferred
  • At least 6 years of experience managing Oracle databases for Federal Systems using Oracle 9.0 or higher
  • Demonstrated experience and ability providing Oracle database administration monitoring and optimizing database performance, and tuning and managing database services and servers
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing database standards, and database operating and security procedures
  • Demonstrated experience performing database backup and database management system (DBMS) recoveries
  • Demonstrated ability to install and tailor database management software and create and configure databases, table spaces, and all other related data objects
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical assistance and guidance to the application developers (.NET) as required
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting and resolving database related issues and problems
  • Demonstrated experience and ability projecting long range requirements for database administration and design in coordination with the Government
  • Demonstrated experience using Oracle DBMS tools (SQL)
  • Demonstrated experience working in a web-based environment
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Flexible, highly motivated, self-starter who can handle multiple tasks
  • Requires TS/SCI security clearance
