Overview

FWI is building a team to provide technically skilled contractor personnel to augment the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) in regulating defense trade through Arms Export Control Act (AECA) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) compliance, including registration, licensing, enforcement, and policy development to ensure proper oversight of defense article exports and imports. As a Compliance Analyst Level IV, you will manage complex administrative compliance cases and enforcement procedures for defense trade violations, providing expertise to senior management and law enforcement agencies on foreign policy and national security implications while interpreting ITAR regulations and preparing consent agreements with minimal supervision. FWI is expanding rapidly and has been recognized as a 2024 Top Workplace by Washington Post, offering excellent growth opportunities in a collaborative environment.

 

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

 

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Provides expertise on special projects, advising senior management and law enforcement agencies on foreign policy issues and national security implications
  • Manages registration of exporters, manufacturers, and brokers under Parts 122 and 129 of the ITAR
  • Manages administrative compliance cases, enforcement procedures, and investigations including facilitating administrative hearings
  • Prepares consent agreements on behalf of the Department with coordination with other Federal agencies
  • Interprets and applies legislative and regulatory material for AECA/ITAR compliance decisions
  • Performs analyses and identifies trends in defense trade activities

Qualifications

Required:  

  • ACTIVE Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret or TS/SCI at the request of the customer
  • Bachelor’s Degree or combination of post-high school education and experience with over 
    seven (7) years of industry or government experience in ITAR compliance, or civil or 
    criminal enforcement of the AECA/ITAR
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills. The candidate 
    should be prepared to provide writing samples
  • Establish priorities and organize a variety of activities, often on a simultaneous basis.
  • Interact with personnel at all grade levels
  • Work under pressure of short, rigid deadlines and time constraints
  • Has working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs and be able to operate all office 
    equipment including but not limited to: telephones, copy machines, fax machines, scanners, 
    printers, and computers
  • May be required to travel within domestic and/or international
