Overview

FWI is seeking a Public Meeting Specialist to plan, organize, implement, and facilitate both virtual and in-person public meetings for the Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) rulemaking efforts related to energy and minerals. This position will serve as the assistant principal point of contact for communications with BLM and will be responsible for all aspects of public meeting execution.

Work Schedule and Location:

Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm. Some flexibility in schedule may be required to coordinate with BLM offices across multiple time zones and to support public meetings that may occur outside regular business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and implement logistics for virtual and in-person public meetings
  • Identify and secure appropriate venues for public meetings (subject to BLM approval)
  • Facilitate public meetings, including setting up and breaking down meeting spaces
  • Coordinate audio-visual equipment requirements for presentations
  • Draft meeting presentations and handouts based on BLM technical information
  • Ensure all meeting materials are 508 compliant for posting to public websites
  • Document meeting attendance and take notes
  • Prepare meeting summaries and relevant documentation for the Decision File
  • Coordinate the production of handouts and poster boards for in-person meetings

 

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS)
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated project experience with holding public meetings
  • Experience coordinating both virtual and in-person meetings
  • Knowledge of virtual meeting platform capabilities for up to 1,000 attendees
  • Familiarity with 508 compliance requirements for public-facing materials
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to travel to meeting locations

 

Desired: 

  • Experience with federal rulemaking public meetings
  • Knowledge of energy and minerals issues
  • Experience with Bureau of Land Management or Department of Interior projects
  • Familiarity with public meeting facilitation techniques
  • Experience with recording and documenting public meetings
