Sr. Data Operations Analyst

Overview

FedWriters is building a team to support Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division's engineering, logistics, and IT systems operations. As a Sr. Data Operations Analyst, you will coordinate operational activities, implement procedures, and provide high-level support to maintain contract compliance and operational excellence. This role includes training and supervising data analytics contractors to ensure their competency and satisfactory support.

Work Schedule and Location:

 

Onsite: This full-time onsite position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

 

  • Collect business intelligence data from available industry reports, public information, field reports, or purchased sources
  • Create business intelligence tools or systems, including design of related databases, spreadsheets, dashboards or other outputs
  • Disseminate information regarding tools, reports, or metadata enhancements
  • Generate standard or custom reports summarizing business, financial, or performance data for review by managers and other stakeholders
  • Identify and analyze industry trends with business strategy implications
  • Maintain library of model documents, templates, or other reusable knowledge assets
  • Maintain or update organization business intelligence tools, databases, dashboards, systems, or methods
  • Provide technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools
  • Analyze business intelligence and data to support recommendations for action and updates to processes and procedures
  • Apply mathematical or statistical techniques to address practical issues in financial, program, and risk management
  • Collaborate in the development or testing of new analytical software and techniques to comply with user requirements, specifications, and scope
  • Consult with programs to determine the need for new or improved analytical procedures, applications, and reporting
  • Develop methods of assessing and measuring program performance in terms of organization's mission and fiscal and program targets
  • Interpret results of analysis procedures
  • Produce written summary reports of research and analysis results
  • Research new products or analytics to determine their usefulness
  • Design, evaluate, recommend, and approve changes of forms, reports, and sites
  • Develop and implement records management program for filing, protection, and retrieval of records
  • Document findings and prepare recommendations for implementing new systems, procedures, or organizational changes
  • Compile statistics from source materials such as program datasets and broader Navy information systems
  • Compute and analyze data, using statistical formulas and computers or calculators
  • Work with program datasets and broader information systems and databases such as NSWC Corona Ship Maintenance Data Improvement Initiative (SMDII), Navy Maintenance Database (NMD), Navy Data Environment (NDE), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
  • Perform complex tasks independently and complete assigned tasks on time and to a satisfactory or better standard
  • Provide guidance and oversight to contractors at the junior and mid experience levels
  • Train other data analytics contractors to ensure their competency
  • Supervise other data analytics contractors to ensure their satisfactory support

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in math, science, engineering, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 10-12+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in operations support
  • Knowledge of DoD/Navy contract administration and compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of and access to program datasets and broader information systems and databases
  • Demonstrated experience training other data analytics contractors to ensure their competency
  • Supervisory skills to oversee other data analytics contractors to ensure their satisfactory support
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
