Overview

FedWriters is building a team to support the EPA's transition from paper-driven to digital environments.  The Records Management Specialist III provides technical support for records management programs, dockets, records center operations, and other information services under the supervision of a Records Information Manager. This role focuses on executing records management tasks, supporting digitization efforts, and assisting EPA staff with records-related needs.

Work Schedule and Location:


On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at EPA Region 6 Headquarters, 1201 Elm Street, Suite 500, Dallas, Texas 75270.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for records management programs, dockets, and records center operations
  • Collect and inventory records related to EPA programs, including CERCLIS sites, RCRA facility files, maps, mixed media, and administrative/legal records
  • Process and maintain records in accordance with EPA Records Schedules and retention requirements
  • Support the daily maintenance of the Records Center by updating files, preparing folders, and maintaining the Records Tracking System (RTS)
  • Assist with preparing records for digitization and transfer to the National Digitization Center using the Paper Asset Tracking Tool (PATT)
  • Respond to record requests by searching for and retrieving materials for EPA staff and authorized personnel
  • Ensure proper handling of Confidential Business Information (CBI) and Privacy Act materials
  • Support the archiving process, including preparation of boxes and forms according to NARA guidelines
  • Assist with semi-annual visual audits of Records Center holdings
  • Help maintain records center documentation, including operations manuals and user guides
  • Provide training and guidance to EPA staff on records management procedures
  • Assist with preparation of regular reports on records management activities

Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of records management experience
  • Experience with at least one automated information system
  • Knowledge of federal records management regulations, policies, and standards
  • Familiarity with records tracking systems and digital records management tools
  • Experience with handling sensitive information (CBI/Privacy Act)
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to reach over 6 feet high to access records
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Must complete and pass a background investigation
