Overview

FedWriters is building a team to support the EPA's transition from paper-driven to digital environments.  The Records Information Manager IV provides technical support for records management programs, dockets, records center operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining proper records management practices, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

Work Schedule and Location:


On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at EPA Region 6 Headquarters, 1201 Elm Street, Suite 500, Dallas, Texas 75270.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for the Region 6 Records Center operations, including maintaining inventories of records stored on-site, off-site, at Federal Records Centers, and National Archives
  • Assist in planning and program development for records management initiatives
  • Analyze records and docket management problems and design strategies to meet ongoing needs
  • Support the digitization of records and use of the Agency Records Management System (ARMS)
  • Manage, maintain, and control disposition of agency records throughout their life cycle
  • Process and prepare records for the National Digitization Center using the Paper Asset Tracking Tool (PATT)
  • Ensure proper handling of Confidential Business Information (CBI) and Privacy Act materials
  • Maintain accurate and current tracking of all records in the Records Tracking System (RTS)
  • Create and update documentation including standard operating procedures, user guides, and file plans
  • Conduct records management training for EPA staff as needed
  • Support archiving activities and coordinate transfers to off-site storage facilities
  • Assist with emergency preparedness for records, including disaster recovery planning
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations for improving records center operations

Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of records management experience
  • Experience with at least one automated information system
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal records management regulations, policies, and standards
  • Familiarity with EPA Records Schedules and retention requirements
  • Proficiency with records tracking systems and digital records management tools
  • Experience with handling sensitive information (CBI/Privacy Act)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to conduct training
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 45 pounds
  • Ability to reach over 6 feet high to access records
  • College degree preferred but not required
  • Must complete and pass a background investigation
