Overview

FedWriters is seeking a Data and Analysis Manager to support the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) operations at NIST. As the Data and Analysis Manager, you will lead data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts for this large-scale program that represents a significant portion of the agency's annual award actions. You will develop data-driven insights to improve program operations, create visualization tools for stakeholders, and implement advanced analytical methodologies to enhance decision-making processes across the program lifecycle.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

 

 

Work Schedule and Location:

Remote: This full-time remote position will work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement comprehensive data collection and analysis strategies for the GRFP
  • Develop predictive models and apply machine learning algorithms to improve program outcomes
  • Create interactive data visualizations and dashboards for program stakeholders
  • Manage database systems and ensure data integrity and quality throughout the program
  • Provide data-driven insights to program leadership to support strategic decision-making
  • Coordinate with large numbers of public stakeholders, including grant recipients and association members
  • Develop standardized reports and metrics to track program performance
  • Respond to NSF inquiries and data requests within the same business day
  • Work collaboratively with NSF program directors, staff, and IT support on an ongoing basis
  • Communicate effectively with academic individuals such as science faculty and students
  • Ensure all data systems and reports comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements
  • Lead data mining initiatives to uncover patterns and trends in program data
  • Additional roles and responsibilities shall be determined by the Contractor

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in data analysis
  • Expertise in advanced data analytics methodologies, including predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and data mining techniques
  • Expertise in programming languages for data analysis (e.g., Python, R)
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, or advanced Excel)
  • Deep understanding of database management systems (e.g., SQL)
  • Experience dealing with large numbers of the public, such as grant recipients or association members
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with academic individuals including science faculty and students
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility technical provisions for data systems and reporting
  • Experience coordinating with government agency staff and responding promptly to requests

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in statistics, data science, computer science, or related field
  • Experience with federal grant program analytics
  • Knowledge of federal data management requirements and practices
  • Background in academic or scientific research analytics
  • Experience developing accessible data visualizations
  • Certification in relevant data science or analytics disciplines
  • Experience managing data teams or leading data-focused projects
