Overview

FedWriters is building a team to develop and maintain best-in-class websites and web infrastructure for the Department of Transportation. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and develop web applications while providing technical leadership to support DOT's mission-critical external websites.

**This position is contingent upon contract award**

 

Work Schedule and Location:

On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm in Washington, DC.

Responsibilities

 

  • Design and develop web applications and digital experiences
  • Lead technical implementation of web platform enhancements
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to development teams
  • Ensure code quality and development best practices
  • Implement Section 508 and WCAG 2.0 AA compliance standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation
  • Conduct code reviews and quality assurance testing
  • Support system integrations and API implementations
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical standards

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • Experience developing enterprise-level web applications
  • Strong knowledge of web development technologies and frameworks
  • Understanding of federal web standards and accessibility requirements
  • Experience leading development teams and providing technical guidance
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies
  • Experience with version control and deployment processes
  • Strong technical documentation abilities
  • Understanding of web security best practices
