Overview

Join our team as a Media Services Specialist and support the United States Marine Corps (USMC) Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) by providing comprehensive media services, including photography, videography, and multimedia production. You will document testing and evaluation activities, manage and maintain audio-visual equipment, edit and produce high-quality media content, and collaborate with government personnel to support strategic communication initiatives.

Work Schedule and Location:


On-Site: This full-time  on-site position will work Monday through Friday, core hours at Camp Pendelton, California.

Responsibilities

  • Capture still photos and videos during test execution in designated training areas, including MCTSSA South and the "tomato patch."
  • Inspect, test, clean, maintain, and repair recording equipment, ensuring microphones and other tools function correctly.
  • Operate traditional and digital cameras with a variety of accessories, such as tripods, filters, and flash attachments, adjusting focus, exposure, and lighting as needed.
  • Assess test locations to identify filming and lighting requirements and address potential challenges.
  • Organize, parse, and edit raw footage into continuous videos based on scripts or client instructions.
  • Trim, sequence, and assemble video segments into cohesive stories using video editing systems and software.
  • Enhance video productions by incorporating music, dialogue, sound effects, and digital effects, ensuring logical and smooth transitions.
  • Review and familiarize yourself with footage before final assembly and confer with stakeholders to align on layout or editing approaches.
  • Compose and frame shots, applying technical aspects like lighting, lens settings, and filters to achieve the desired effect.
  • Archive and compress multimedia content, digitizing and storing it securely while maintaining an inventory of audio-visual equipment.
  • Edit, manipulate, and enhance digital images and videos using specialized software like Adobe Photoshop and CyberLink PowerDirector.
  • Create and revise professional materials such as PowerPoint presentations, brochures, and vignettes, ensuring consistency with MCTSSA branding.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to update MCTSSA’s internal and external webpages and manage compound read boards.

  • Education:

    • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:

    • 0-5 years of experience in photography, videography, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in multimedia production.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in capturing high-quality still photos and videos, including in field testing environments.
    • Expertise in operating and maintaining traditional and digital cameras, as well as related accessories like tripods, filters, and flash attachments.
    • Ability to assess filming locations and adjust for focus, lighting, and exposure to achieve desired effects.
    • Skilled in video editing, including trimming, sequencing, and assembling footage into cohesive stories using software like CyberLink PowerDirector.
    • Proficient in image editing and enhancement using Adobe Photoshop or similar tools.
    • Experience in multimedia content archiving, compression, and secure storage management.
  • Creative and Organizational Skills:

    • Ability to compose, frame, and enhance multimedia content to align with technical requirements and creative objectives.
    • Competence in creating and revising professional materials, including PowerPoint presentations, brochures, and vignettes, while maintaining brand consistency.
    • Strong organizational skills to manage and maintain an inventory of audio-visual equipment.
  • Communication and Collaboration:

    • Experience collaborating with stakeholders to update internal and external webpages or manage communication tools like compound read boards.
    • Capability to confer with team members or clients to refine layouts and editing approaches for optimal results.
  • Work Environment:

    • Ability to work under general supervision and contribute effectively in a team environment.
    • Flexible approach to adapting tasks and responsibilities as needed within multimedia production projects.

Pay Range (Compensation will be determined based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other relevant factors)
