Overview

Join our team as a Project Director and support The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), National Institutes of Health (NIH), by providing professional, scientific, and technical support services for NIAID's research priorities, including basic, translational, and clinical research; vaccine development; laboratory and veterinary research in BSL and ABSL environments; and bioinformatics and computational biology.

This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm in Bethesda, MD.

 

Responsibilities

We're seeking an experienced Project Director to lead complex federal programs, oversee contract implementation, and serve as the primary technical point of contact. This role requires expertise in federal grant management, data analytics, and program evaluation, with a focus on federal agency projects.

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for federal contracts, coordinating with Contracting Officer Representatives (COR) and Contracting Officers to manage deliverables, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Oversee the implementation of Quality Assurance Surveillance Plans (QASP) and ensure compliance with federal regulations, risk assessment frameworks, and enterprise risk management strategies.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams, assigning responsibilities, monitoring performance, and fostering collaboration across functional areas, including subcontractor management.
  • Guide data analytics, information management initiatives, and document development to support project objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct regular progress meetings with stakeholders, providing status updates and maintaining clear communication infrastructure.
  • Develop and manage project management plans, staffing strategies, budgets, and cost control measures to meet contract goals effectively.
  • Coordinate travel logistics, including international travel arrangements and reimbursements, while ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Track and report project performance metrics, enhancing policies, procedures, and tools for continuous improvement.
 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a related field (or Bachelor’s degree with an additional 2 years of specialized experience).
  • 8–12 years of experience in federal program management, including managing contracts valued at $5M or more.
  • Advanced knowledge of federal grant management processes, compliance requirements, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Strong expertise in data analytics and project management tools and methodologies.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Eligibility for a security clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

 

  • PMP Certification
  • Federal grant management certification (e.g., Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) or equivalent).
  • Experience with DHHS, NIH, NIAID, other Federal Health agencies, or similar federal agencies
  • Background in data analytics or program evaluation
  • Experience managing contracts valued at $10M+
